In the Miami Dade Xtreme Youth Football League there has been a collision course brewing between two undefeated teams on the 90 LB. division. The Modello Timberwolves who sports a (3-0) record and the Miami Lakes Jaguars with an impressive (3-0) record as well.
The Jaguars led by head coach Jack Sawyer said, “Our team is built on discipline and hard work. These kids come to practice Monday through Friday and put in work. So we feel on Saturdays is when our hard work will pay off.” The Jaguars would host the Modello Timberwolves, who are led by Timberwolves’ head coach, Antwuan Simmons on sunny Saturday in the City of Miami Lakes. Coach Antwuan said, “We looking forward to the challenge to facing an undefeated team, it will let us know where we really are.”
Now both teams stood in the middle of the field to flip the coin and it was ready to line it up on the grid iron. The Jaguars would receive the ball first, and would flex their quick strike offense by scoring the very first play from scrimmage. Jaguars’ running back #7 Nick Allen would waste no time by showing off his track speed by sprintingto the end zone for a blazing 60 yard touchdown. Jaguars’ quarterback #5Josh Ancrum would add the extra point on a quarterback draw, giving Miami Lakes the lead 7-0.
Miami Lakes would also set the tone on defense led by #50 Danny Leyton, #54Jason Guzman, and #9 Jejuan Bracewell , just to name a few. The Jaguars would apply pressure to the Timberwolves’ offensive line all game, forcing three and outs throughout the afternoon. The Timberwolves would show signs of a steel curtain defense of their own led by #1 Elias Clark, # 5 Rahem Chambers, and #54 Lorenzo Walker.
Now as both the Jaguars’ and Modello’s defenses would take control most of the first half, the Timberwolves found themselves backed in on the 28 yard line of the Jaguars. This is when Modello’s head Coach felt he could change the momentum of the game that was starting to be dominated by both defenses with a big play. With less than three minutes in the left in the second quarter, Modello would go for it on fourth and 12. Jaguars would stop them and Modello would turn the ball over on downs. The very next play, the Jaguars would take advantage of the field position as Miami Lakes’ quarterback, #5 Josh Ancrum would exploit the left side of the Timberwolves’ defense and rush for an explosive 28 yard touchdown, putting the Jaguars up 13 to 0 at the half.
Miami Lakes would seem to increase the intensity on defense as the Timberwolves’ running back #3 Luis Negrin would run for some tough yards, coming up just shy of helping his team convert those yards to first downs. As the second half continued the Jaguars would display their ground and pound offense which featured Jaguars’ fullback #44Daryl Denson and Jaguars’ running back #2 Deandre Tarver. The Jaguars’ hardnosed run game would not only eat up the game clock, but eat up yardage as well. The Jaguars would drive a final 47 yards on an 9 play drive, capping it off with a 2 yard touchdown by # 2 Deandre Tarver, defeating the Timberwolves 19-0.
Look for the Jaguars to continue making some noise in the Xtreme league, as they are currently leading the 90 LB pack in their league standings. The Jaguars aren’t just happy with being (4-0), they have vowed to stay on the prowl, remaining undefeated, taming every team that stands in their way to a championship.
