In the Florida Youth Football League, the 125 pound showdown between the undefeated Miami Gardens Ravens and the (7-1) North West Broward Raiders was about to take center stage in city of Miami Gardens. In sense, this was an epic battle in the making between the best of 305 vs. 954 in the FYFL.

The (8-0) Ravens led by Head Coach Ira Whitehead, entered this match up very confident that they would defeat the Raiders by showcasing their aggressive defensive line that had previously recorded 53 tackles for a loss in the season. In a pre-game interview Coach Ira said, “The strength of our team is definitely our defensive line. I feel we have the best defensive ends in the league, our front five is basically unblockable.”

Raiders’ Head Coach, Ed Jones said, “We have the two best 125 LB. players in the entire state, wide receiver, #1 Kenny “The Blue Print” McIntosh, and running back, #7 Keyshawn McCray. We feel there isn’t a defense that can contain these guys for four quarters.”

Both teams met at the 50 yard line, flipped the coin and strapped it up to play some good ole fashion football.

The Ravens and the Raiders both displayed top speed & solid tackling on their respective defenses which cancelled out both teams’ big play capability for most of the afternoon. With both of these teams being evenly matched; this game came down to who would make the first mistake.

That first mistake made by either team proved to be costly for the Miami Gardens Ravens. The Ravens attempted to pass down field which was intercepted by the Raiders’ defensive back, #4 Cecil Powell for a pick 6! The Raiders took the lead over the Ravens 7-0.

The Ravens continued tough running behind running back #0 Irshaad Davis, but the Raiders defense did not bend the entire game. North West Broward Raiders shut out the Ravens offense, winning a tough defensive battle, final score, 7-0.

Football fans feel this game was truly a preview to the playoffs with a strong three team race in the FYFL, between the North West Broward Raiders, Miami Gardens Bulldogs and the Miami Gardens Ravens. Be sure to keep your eyes on these teams as they make a run for the trophy.
